Patient Consent
To give consent a patient should know the reasons (indications) potential problems (possible side effects and complications) and the alternative treatment options. Usually an adult should give consent for a child but children must also consent to the treatment as far as they are able. Consent should be confirmed in writing but is an on-going process. Obtaining patient consent is a standard practice followed by all good dental, medical and facial aesthetic practitioners.
Perioral Lines
Fine vertical lines that appear on the upper lip. Commonly known as
Periorbital Lines
Fine lines that emerge from the corner of the eyes and spread outwards. Commonly known as
Photoageing
Changes in the skin due to sun exposure. Wrinkles and skin spots are visible signs of photoageing.
Platysma
Either of the two broad muscles located in the neck region that gives youthful contour to the neck. These muscles extend from the lower jaw to the clavicle.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Also known as PCOS. It is the most common hormonal disorder among women across all races. It affects women of reproductive age and is the leading cause for infertility. Major symptoms include period problems, excessive hairiness, weight gain and oily skin.
Psoriasis
It is a common skin disease characterized by skin inflammation, thick red patches and excessive itching. It generally affects the elbow, scalp, trunk and knee region.
Ptosis
Abnormal sagging or drooping of body parts, especially eyebrows, eyelids and breasts. On of the side effects of botox is drooping of the eyelid (eyelid ptosis). It is fairy rare and can be treated with drops. It usally wears off after a couple of weeks or more
Punch Excision
A technique used to remove a circular piece of skin for transplantation or biopsy. This method can be used for acne or scar removal.
