Haematoma
(also spelt as Hematoma) Swelling due to abnormal accumulation of blood under the skin.
Herpes Simplex Virus
It causes skin infection around the mouth and lips. Commonly known as
Hirsutism
Excessive growth of hair in face, limbs and torso regions of women. It is generally caused by an increased androgen count.
Humectant
A humectant substance has the property to absorb and hold moisture. When applied on skin, it will retain the water level in the epidermis layer. Common examples of humectants are aloe vera, glycerine, hyaluronic acid, honey, lactic acid, propylene glycol, sorbitol and urea.
Hyperhidrosis
A state of excessive perspiration, particularly in the armpits, palms and soles. It can usually be treated with botox or other botulinum toxin treatments
Hyperpigmentation
Brown patches or abnormal darkening of the skin. It may appear due to sun exposure, pigmentation defects or as after effects of drug treatment. Hyperpigmenation can often be teated with chemcial peels, laser, ipl and topical applications
Hypertrophic Scar
Also called as cicatrices. It is a raised and red scar that appears on the site of a healing wound. Unlike the keloid scar, it remains within the boundaries of the wound.
Hypoallergenic
The term is used to describe a cosmetic product that causes or claims to cause no or less allergic reaction when used.
Hypopigmentation
Abnormal loss of skin color causing pale or white skin. It occurs due to reduced ability of the mealnocyte cells in the skin to produce melanin pigment.
