ZyplastTM Dermal Filler
Zyplast is a bovine collagen-based dermal filler used to create fuller lips, as well as to contour the deeper wrinkles and folds around the forehead and nose. Along with its sister product Zyderm, which is used more to treat the appearance of finer lines and wrinkles, Zyplast has been used to treat over one million people since its introduction in the 1980s, making it one of the most widely used and safest collagen-based products available.
How Does Zyplast Work?
Using a very fine needle, your practitioner will inject the Zyplast into the required treaent area. They will then gently rub the skin to ensure the product is evenly spread and that no bumps have formed. The collagen contained in Zyplast supports the body’s natural network of collagen, helping to create a firmer, more contoured appearance.
Cost and Effects of Zyplast
Zyplast and Zyderm are two of the few collagen products to contain a numbing agent for more comfortable treaent. Injections cost between £200 and £400 depending on the area to be treated. Effects are noticeable immediately after treaent and last for between 3 and 6 months depending on the amount used, your age and lifestyle.
Treaent lasts between 5 and 30 minutes and you are free to resume your normal daily activity immediately afterwards.
Safety considerations of Zyplast
Zyplast is made of bovine collagen and 0.3% lignocaine. Around 3% per cent of people have a natural sensitivity to collagen making them unsuitable for treaent. It will be necessary for your cosmetic practitioner to conduct an intradermal test on your forearm at least four weeks before treaent begins.
Like most collagen-based dermal fillers, Zyplast is not to be used on:
- Individuals who react negatively to the required safety test
- Patients with a known sensitivity to lignocaine
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Patients with a history of autoimmune disease
Side effects of Zyplast include:
- Itching
- Pain
- Swelling
- Prolonged redness
However, side effects are rare with only one to two per cent exhibiting any signs of a reaction. Zyplast has undergone more extensive safety testing than any other collagen-based filler on the market and is proven to be one of the safest dermal fillers available.
