Restylane is a dermal filler made from a substance called hyaluronic acid. This is present in your skin naturally where it helps to keep it supple and youthful. With time the amounts of hyaluronic acid tend to dwindle leading to lack of moisture and wrinkle formation as we age. Restyane works by increasing your body's production of hyaluronic acid and so improves your skin quality. Restylane gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle.
Anyone can benefit from treatment with Restylane, both men and women.
Restylane can be used as a solution to many results of ageing and general weathering. For example, it can be used to disguise lines and wrinkles or for lip enhancement and facial contouring.
The treatment will usually take between 10 and 20 minutes. Very small needles are used and any discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived. The result is instant.
As soon as your treatment is over you can resume normal daily activities
Since it was first launched in 1996, Restylane has undergone extensive clinical scrutiny with an increasing body of evidence relating to its ease of use, tolerability and effectiveness. Today, more than 1,500,000 treatments have been successfully carried out worldwide.
Restylane gives long-lasting but not permanent effects. How long a treatment lasts is very individual. This depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, life style and muscle activity, as well as on the injection technique. Most patients choose to have a follow-up six to twelve months after their initial treatment for contouring or wrinkles. After lip treatments, a follow-up is normally needed after around six months
