Matridur® Dermal Filler
Matridur is a dermal filler (skin filler) designed to treat the appearance of fine lines such as laughter lines, smokers lines and peri-oral lines on your face. It is a mixture of non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid and cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
How Does Matridur Work?
Matridur dermal filler tops up the skins natural production of hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar found in the skin cells. Hyaluronic acid is a major component of the connective tissue matrix in the skin, absorbing moisture like a sponge to increase cell volume and density. This helps to keep skin firm and full, preventing lines and wrinkles.
Your skin loses the ability to produce hyaluronic acid as you age, resulting in wrinkled and dry skin. Matridur replaces the lost hyaluronic acid to keep your skin looking smooth and firm.
How Long Does Matridur Last?
Depending on age and lifestyle, the average effects of Matridur last between 6 and 9 months before being completely broken down by the body. The price per syringe of Matridur is usually between £200 and £300, depending on how much product is required.
Safety and Side Effects of Matridur
Like most hyaluronic dermal fillers Matridur has been found safe to use. Matridur will be completely broken down by the body, eventually leaving no trace of the filler.
Matridur is not to be used on:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Patients with a history of autoimmune disease
- Individuals with a tendency to develop hypertrophic scars
Common side effects include swelling, pain, itching and discolouration at the treatment area. Some patients might experience some lumpiness after the injections. Resolution of these side effects usually happens naturally in a couple of days. One in 2000 people experiences side effects on average.
Matridur and Matridex
Matridex is a similar product in the same range used to regenerate soft tissue in the face when altered by damage or ageing. It is commonly used as a dermal filler to soften hollows and restore contour to the face. The effects of Matridex can last up to two years in some cases.
