Hylaform® Dermal Filler
Hylaform is a dermal filler (also known as a skin filler) which can be injected just below the surface of your skin to add volume and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Made from hyaluronic acid, Hylaform replicates the effects of the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in the body.
How Does Hylaform Work?
Hylaform works by increasing the levels of hyaluronic acid in your skin. Hyalronic acid is a natural sugar found in the skin cells that helps to give them volume by retaining water, keeping the skin hydrated, firm and wrinkle-free. Over time there is a natural reduction in the level of hyaluronic acid causing lines and creases to appear in the surface of your skin.
Hylaform is injected into the top layers of your skin that have deteriorated due to age, exposure to sun and depletion of hyaluronic acid and collagen. This adds volume to the skin cells providing a temporary correction of lines and folds in your skin.
Are the Results Immediate?
In most cases you will be able to notice the effects of Hylaform immediately after treatment. The effects will last between 6 and 9 months depending on the amount of Hylaform used, your age and your lifestyle.
The cost of Hylaform again depends on how much is required during treatment but can be in the range of £250 to £400 per treatment.
Is Hylaform Safe?
Hylaform has been used for over 20 years treating over 350,000 people worldwide. Derived from an avian source, Hylaform is highly purified in a controlled production process. No testing is required prior to use and sensitivity to Hylaform is reported in one in every 2000 treatments on average.
Reported side effects of Hylaform include:
- Redness and swelling of the treatment site
- Temporary lumpiness
- Acneform papules
The side effects of Hylaform are rare and usually very mild. They are also typically resolved within a week without the need for further treatment.
Hylaform is not to be used on:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Patients with a known allergy to materials of an avian origin
- Patients with a history of autoimmune disease
Hylaform Product Range
