COSMETIC SURGERY: BODY
Cosmetic Surgery for the Body
In today’s world, where appearances matter more than ever, the figure has taken on increasing importance. It can determine how people see you and even what clothes suit you the best. This is why so many people are keen to see how they can improve their body shape. The reality is, to a large extent, that your genes predetermine your figure and no amount of dieting or exercising is going to make you the perfect shape. But there are ways to give your figure a boost that don’t involve many gruelling and often fruitless hours in the gym.
Liposuction for the Body and Thighs
Liposuction removes fatty deposits, helping to give the body a more natural balance and symmetry. The operation is conducted on an outpatient basis with incisions being made in discreet areas to hide any scarring that might occur. Modern liposuction probes are specifically designed to reduce the amount of scarring and tissue damage. The key to a successful treatment is not removing as much fat as possible, but removing fat from the right places to maintain a natural shape to the body.
Common areas for liposuction are the stomach, back and thighs. In these areas it is often difficult to burn off fat, especially if you are genetically predisposed to weight gain on these parts of your body. This can be demoralising, especially if you have been working hard to burn it off.
Having fat on your hips and thighs can be seen as a problem by some people because many associate having larger thighs as a sign of aging and slender, thin thighs as being youthful and athletic.
Liposuction is a treatment designed to remove localised areas of fat that are difficult to remove naturally. For this reason, liposuction for both men and women is one of the most commonly practised cosmetic surgery procedures.
Total recovery time from liposuction treatment takes two weeks, on average but most patients are able to return to work within a few days. Liposuction costs between £3,000 and £5,000 depending on the extent of the surgery necessary.
After treatment women should be able to wear the shorts or tight jeans you have been dreaming of getting into, with pride and confidence in your new figure.
Laser liposuction (also known as laser lipolysis)
In this minimally invasive procedure, your practitioner uses a small probe to deliver laser into the targeted area of the body. This laser destroys fat cells which then the boy can absorb. The laser liposuction treatment usually takes about an hour for each targeted area and is usually performed under local anaesthetic.
Tummy Tuck
Fat that accumulates on the stomach is notoriously hard to shift, even if you put the hours in at the gym and eat as healthily as possible. Yet having a flat stomach is one of the key indicators that you’re in good shape.
A tummy tuck can give both men and women the tight, flat stomach that is so often the key to having a great body. The surgery itself involves removing a portion of skin around the stomach before reattaching the remaining tissue. Your practitioner may also recommend a simultaneous liposuction treatment to remove any excess fat.
A two-night stay in hospital will be required and practitioners recommend at least a two-week recovery period before returning to work. A tummy tuck costs about £5,000 and although it is quite a large procedure, involving a large incision, it can also produce some of the most visibly stunning results. After surgery you can expect to have a taut stomach that can give you back the confidence your old belly might have taken away.
Buttock Implants
Your bottom is roughly the midway section of your physique and forms an essential part of your figure. A dull, flat or shapeless bottom can really spoil what might otherwise be a stunning figure.
Buttock implants aim to give you a more shapely and flattering figure with all the curves in the right places.
Like breast augmentation, the implants are made of silicone and inserted into a cavity prepared by your practitioner. You will need to stay in hospital overnight for surgery and surgeons recommend at least a fortnight off work and that you avoid strenuous exercise for two months. After surgery, you can expect to have a fuller, rounder bottom that will accentuate your figure. Buttock implants usually cost between £6,000 and £8,000.
Calf Implants
The calf muscles have a reputation as the hardest to develop. Even the most ardent body builders still have difficulty developing the muscles in this area. This often means that an otherwise flawless physique can be ruined by skinny, shapeless calves.
Calf implants are popular with both men and women who are unable to satisfactorily develop their muscles. The surgery involves placing implants into cavities created on the inside of the leg. Patients will usually experience some swelling and discomfort for up to two weeks after surgery and surgeons recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for at least five or six weeks. The procedure will usually cost around £4,000.
