CHEMICAL PEELS: SKINCEUTICAL PEELS
Skinceuticals Gel Peel
The Skinceuticals Gel Peel is a superficial chemical peel used in the treatment of common skin disorders, such as wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, scars and acne. It is ideal for those who want to prepare their skin for moderate or deep peel treatment. The Skinceuticals Gel Peel is also used in the process of microdermabrasion and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) skin resurfacing treatment.
Skinceuticals Gel Peel: Product Range
The Skinceuticals product range includes two gel peels:
Gel Peel GL: This product is a combination of glycolic acid and lactic acid. These naturally found chemical compounds exfoliate the skin without causing irritation or dryness. Glycolic acid penetrates deep into the skin and treats the skin at all levels; while lactic acid provides moisture to the skin. This combination fosters collagen synthesis and improves the growth of elastic fibers in the dermis.
Gel Peel SM: This is a mix of salicylic and mandelic acid. It has higher level of concentration from the GL compound. Mandelic acid, one of the strongest alpha hydroxyacids (AHAs), penetrates the skin and helps prevent inflammation or irritation in the skin. Salicylic acid penetrates the skin pores and treats external layer disorders. Like the GL product, SM peel also stimulates the production of new cells. This mild peel softens skin and improves its appearance.
Skinceuticals Gel Peel: How to Use
The skin is deeply cleansed and degreased to prepare it for the peel. Now, an even layer of Skinceuticals gel peel is applied on the facial skin and left to dry for three to five minutes. The peel is removed with gauze soaked in water.
Immediately after the treatment, one can experience mild redness. For best results, one should complete a course of six peels in one to two months time.
There are no reported side effects of Skinceuticals gel peels. As a preventive measure, breastfeeding mothers, pregnant women and people on other peel treatments should not use Skinceuticals gel peels.
