Mandel Peels
Mandel is a chemical peel product range that contains naturally occurring mandelic acid, derived from bitter almonds. Mandel peels are used for curing skin disorders, such as ageing effects, sun damage, acne, rough texture and scars. These superficial peels are also used before and after laser skin resurfacing treatment. It is suitable for all skin types including dark skin.
Mandel peel is primarily an alpha hydroxyl acid solution. It has antibacterial properties and a revitalizing effect when applied on the skin.
Mandel Peels: Product Range
The Mandel peels product range contains in-clinic and at-home products. The in-clinic products should be administered under the supervision of an expert skin therapist.
In-clinic products are:
- Mandel Pre Peeling: Prepares the skin for the peel by removing grease and dead skin cells.
- Mandel Plus Peeling: Standard chemical peel for normal skin.
- Mandel 50 Peeling: Chemical peel for sensitive skin.
- Neutral Post Peeling: Post treatment cream to neutralize skin.
At-home product range includes:
- Hydrata System: Regular use cream that nourishes the skin.
- Mandel Active: It contains gel with mandelic acid.
At-home products should be used after the treatment as per the instructions. They stimulate positive results of the peel and promote skin cell growth.
Mandel Peels: Procedure
As per the standard procedure, the Mandel peel is applied on the skin after cleansing. The peel is left to dry for about 20 to 30 minutes. Later, the peel is removed and a moisturizer is applied on the skin to avoid dryness.
For best result, one should undertake the full course of six peels. The first four sessions should be taken at an interval of 7 to 14 days. However, the last two sessions should maintain a gap period of 14 to 21 days.
Mandel peels have no reported side effects. People with sensitive skin can suffer mild irritation immediately after the peel is taken off. These peels are not suitable for breast feeding mothers or pregnant women.
